Julie started their career as a therapist serving a variety of diverse adults struggling with low self-esteem, anxiety, and trauma. Julie also worked specifically for children with trauma for several years teaching children, teens, their caregivers, and families the coping skills needed to increase family bonds and reinforce individual resilience. They have worked with clients of all ages and are often told that they make clients feel seen, heard, and understood. Julie enjoys doing the deep work with clients and loves getting to see them experience the kind of growth and transformation they come to therapy for. Additionally, Julie has also worked with several queer and neurodivergent clients, helping them recover from family, academic, and/or religious trauma.
Introduction to Education & Experience
2010-2014
Bachelor of Science in Psychology
DeSales University

While in college, I was a Peer Mentor to first-year students navigating the transition from High School to college life. I taught time-management skills and emotion regulation skills to first year students. I also was the University's Psychology Intern, where I provided Wellness Coaching, created and led workshops on stress reduction, and provided guidance and support to students with diverse learning needs. I also researched, conducted, and presented an independent study on students' stress levels.
As someone who struggled with ADHD, neurodivergency, and perfectionism in college, I understand the challenges that come with navigating the academic world when dealing with these issues. That's why I am passionate about working with other students, professionals, people on the autism spectrum, and/or neurodivergent individuals. When working with people from these populations, one main focus is to to help them separate their self-worth from their academic and/or professional achievements.
2014-2017
Master of Arts Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology,
John F. Kennedy University

2018-Present

When entering Graduate School, I wanted to ensure I learned from a lens of psychology that was holistic in nature and did not place focus on the pathologization or labeling of people's unique experiences. I also wanted to make sure I learned from a Graduate institute that taught alternative and experiential ways of treating the WHOLE person (Mind, Body, Spirit, & Soul). My specialization in Transpersonal Psychology went beyond traditional psychological perspectives. While in graduate school, I worked as a Marriage and Family Therapist Trainee and Wellness Counselor at a Holistic Community Counseling Center in Oakland CA and at a college University. Additionally, I was part of the "Holistic Student Union", which allowed me to create University-wide Retreats for other students, offering several different therapeutic interventions to greater self-awareness.
After graduate school, I worked with underserved children and families to give back to the community and become proficient in working with childhood trauma. I then gained licensure and became a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, which required years of trainings, supervision, studying, and providing therapy to people of all ages. Later, as a licensed clinician, I worked with a mental health agency to provide virtual individual and family therapy to a variety of adults, teens, children, and families, promoting wellbeing and self-awareness. Now, I offer psychotherapy and other healing services through my private practice: Wholehearted Holistic Healing.
