Psychedelic Psychotherapy
Psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy involves using psychedelic substances/medicines as adjuncts to traditional psychotherapy sessions. Psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy has shown promising results in treating various mental health conditions, including depression, PTSD, anxiety, and addiction. Research suggests that these substances can facilitate profound experiences that promote self-awareness, emotional healing, and spiritual growth when used in conjunction with therapeutic support and guidance.
Transpersonal Psychedelic Psychotherapy
Psychedelic Assisted Psychotherapy is provided through the lens of Transpersonal Psychology, which is what I specialized in while in Graduate School. Transpersonal psychology is a branch of psychology that focuses on the exploration of spiritual and transcendent aspects of human experience. It goes beyond traditional psychological perspectives to incorporate dimensions of consciousness, peak experiences, mystical states, and interconnectedness with others and the universe. When receiving Psychedelic Therapy through the lens of Transpersonal Psychology, I will assist you in processing traumatic experiences and integrating lessons. Working with me utilizing psychedelic medicine can also help you remove negative thought patterns, uncover your potential, promote transformation and positive change, and help you in feeling the connection and integration of mind, body, and spirit.
I currently provide Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP)
in the comfort of your home or with guidance from me online.
MDMA and Psilocybin Assisted Psychotherapy will be available at a later date.
Psychedelic-Assisted Psychotherapy involves several stages:
-
Onboarding: Reach out to me via email for a free consultation call to discuss your needs and eligibility. Afterwards, I will connect you to my medical team for you to schedule a formal medical assessment. Your initial medical consultation will occur with a prescriber through a company I partner with, called "Journey Clinical".
-
Preparation: This phase involves preparing the participant mentally, physically, spiritually, and emotionally for the psychedelic experience. During this phase I work with clients to set intentions, establish trust, and address any concerns or fears.
-
Experience/Dosing Session: The psychedelic substance is administered in a carefully controlled environment, often with supportive music, comfortable surroundings, and guidance. Clients undergo the effects of the psychedelic substance, which can include altered perceptions, intense emotions, and profound insights. During your experience, I provide guidance and support as needed. A typical KAP session lasts 2.5 hours and can take place either in-person the comfort of your own home (if you live in the San Diego area), or can occur remotely via a secure telehealth platform. This session includes a half hour of preparation before taking the medication, and two hours of your medicine journey. During a dosing session, you will self-administer your ketamine using a dissolvable lozenge. For the duration of your inward journey, you will be wearing an eye mask and listening to calming music. Although a KAP dosing session may be largely an internal experience, I can be present with you the entire time to hold space and provide support as needed. Once the Ketamine effects subsided, we’ll spend the remainder of our appointment giving you space to process and discuss your experience and initial insights.
-
Integration: After the psychedelic experience, clients engage in integration session(s) where they can more deeply process and make sense of their insights and experiences. This is when I help clients integrate these experiences into their daily lives, fostering personal growth, healing, and transformation.
